A network of young adults with and without disabilities that works to advance equality, diversity, and the rights of persons with disabilities, by empowering digital leadership, connecting young people to promote shared goals, and acting to change public perceptions through social media.
Twenty percent of Israel’s population comprises persons with disabilities, but their public presence and representation in positions of influence and leadership, especially among young people, is still limited. Link 20 was established to address this lack of representation in the public space, and it does so by providing an opportunity for a young, humorous, creative, and humane voice to lead a change, and ensure that persons with disabilities have equal access to the public space, both physical and virtual. Link 20 includes persons with and without disabilities, based on the belief that change is in the best interest of the entire society.
Our struggle is not just for public transportation, the right to live where we want, or that news broadcasts would also be translated into sign language — our struggle is for the right to do all of this in good taste, with humor, creativity, and most importantly — !
Social campaigns often lean towards the sensational, extreme, or sad. We at Link 20 do not believe that pity or sadness can lead to an overall social change, and we enjoy demonstrating that it is possible to promote struggles and social movements in a different way. We believe that disability is not something that needs to be overcome, but a worldview that everyone should embrace. That is why we allow ourselves to create a completely different language and in a reserved edition.
Link 20 offers activism and leadership training for young people in the digital age, encourages network members to raise public awareness and stimulate discussion around marginalized topics and issues, and serves as a platform for network members to make their voice heard and share their stories. Through various digital tools, we create campaigns, lead struggles, and drive tangible change through digital media.
